Official 3rd party plugins manager/store (central database)

All developers would upload their plugins to the store, even the free ones (like in Unity store for instance). Then C3 would have a built-in addons browser with an "install" button.

This would be an amazingly valuable addition for many reasons:
1. People would be able to find addons easily (right now they are lost in the depths of the forum)
2. Addons could be automatically updated or at least notify user that there's an update available (right now it's hard to follow with addons updates)
3. All addons would be installed from trusted source (Scirra store)
4. Would be possible to restrict bundling the paid-addons (right now this is a quite serious problem)

etc.. basically it would make life much easier for everyone and would solve many issues which are seemingly unrelated, like this one

BTW: This could be easily added to C2 as well as a kind of iFrame.

It would be great if every version of an addons is availible at any time, so that you can up/downgrade how ever you like and if there are branches for different versions of the addon.
This would make it possible to drastically change features in an addon without breaking anyones project.
I'd actually like this for the constructs default addons too.

Rambling about what I hope this could change:

I feel like addons in consturct never get a major overhaul after there initial released, to make sure projects dont break. They get released in a beta version so everyone can test, find bugs and issues with the addon and then it is done.
But the community needs some time to really WORK with an addon to find its actual short comings, but by the time this happens the addon is called done. Like done, done. Never touch it again kinda done and you have to live with it. It also kinda feels like its your own fault for not finding these problems while the addon was still being worked on.

So while it is really great and I appreciate that I dont have to start from 0 with every update, like in Unity :P , it also has this side effect where the addon is either perfect from day 1 or you'll have to deal with its issues forever.

To get back on topic, I think with an addon manager that allows for multiple versions of the same addon, we could have the best of both worlds. Addon creators can make branches to make drastic changes to features in their addon without fearing to break peoples projects and can still fix major bugs in older versions or other branches of their addon.

Agree, so much better than possible deadlinks in forum posts. Rex had to pretty develop his own server and tools to do this, perhaps there is something to leverage there.

    Tom - a feature request:

    - add possibility for "live preview"

Description - make a textbox for inputing a link to a example for the plugin.  Users can host it themself and you can just make a frame where it would preview that page.  if no link no preview. (that would be a simple solution).  Ofc you can additionally add "report" button if people put some inappropriate link there.

I see the benefit of live preview, but I'm not comfortable iFraming content to other sites I'm afraid at this time.  I am adding ability to upload example files though which should suffice.
